Frequently Asked Questions

How do you determine a value for my vehicle?

We use our own internal data from selling thousand of cars over the last decade, as well as industry leading valuation tools to help us give you the most competitive offer we can. Our information is updated frequently similarly to the stock market, so we are always up-to-date when determining a value for your vehicle.

We do NOT use Kelley Blue Book for values, Kelley Blue book is created to help retail car dealers sell cars to consumers, not value cars. In some cases we can pay much more than Kelley Blue Book, in some cases we pay the same or less. It varies on a case by case basis as Kelley Blue Book is not a metric in our valuation process.

What effects the value of my vehicle?

Value of a vehicle is impacted by multiple factors - vehicle history reports by Carfax and Autocheck, cosmetic condition of the vehicle, mechanical issues, wear and tear, and market trends which effect the desirability of the vehicle you are selling.

What if I still owe money on my vehicle?

We have worked with many customers who still owe money on their vehicle to a lender. We will pay your lien off directly to the lender after obtaining the payoff amount. This process may take additional time to complete the sale, but is something we’ve done countless times.

Can I get more for my vehicle if I sell privately?

Yes, often you can get more money when privately selling your vehicle, however the process can be lengthy. Meeting many people who may not be seriously interested in purchasing your car can waste time and energy. At Koeppel Auto Exchange we are professionals who are serious and ready to purchase your vehicle. Time is money at the end of the day, why spend weeks with private buyers when you can sell your car to Koeppel Auto Exchange in minutes.

Can I sell my leased vehicle?

Yes, depending on the company you are leasing with we can buy your lease directly. Some leasing companies do not allow third party buyouts, but the vast majority do. We visit leases on a case by case basis- often times there is a lot of equity left in a leased vehicle- before returning your vehicle off lease consider contacting us for an appraisal to see if you can get cash in your pocket for returning it to us.

Is Koeppel Auto Exchange licensed and insured?

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured as a New Jersey Automotive Dealership. This is important as many buyers exist who attempt to operate unlicensed or with licenses from other states. This can potentially put you at risk when dealing with a legal document such as the title to your vehicle.

Where are you located?

Koeppel Auto Exchange is located in Belleville, NJ - less than 10 minutes from major highways and within 15 miles of New York City.

Do you need to see my car in person to give me a quote?

No, we can provide a valuation range for your vehicle if we have some basic information. Once seeing the vehicle in person to confirm its current condition and mileage, we give a final value. For an accurate valuation range before seeing it in person, it’s best to provide a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), current mileage, vehicle color, list of options, and condition report. Pictures are helpful if representative of the current condition.

Do I have to drive my vehicle to you?

While you can bring your vehicle directly to us, you can also schedule us to pick up your vehicle directly from your home, bank, or office.

How long is a quoted offer valid for?

Our offer is valid for 7 days and is subject to change after 7 days. We trade cars in real time, and just like the stock market the car market is ever changing.
